The Hearts Bank

The PLN Foundation is a co-initiator of this Hearts Bank.

BIOMEDICAL BANK FOR HEARTS

The Hearst Bank is a central biobank where heart tissue and medical data from deceased donors are stored and provided for scientific research. With this heart tissue, researchers can examine how a heart functions in the early stages of a disease and what goes wrong in various heart conditions. This allows for earlier and/or better detection and treatment of diseases. PhD candidate Renee Maas explains the importance of the Hearts Bank in this video.
